Course Overview

The world of energy is complicated. From the way we produce and consume it, to the use of the latest technologies to innovate and invest in alternative sources of energy, the topic is emotionally charged and complex. This course introduces students to a spectrum of themes related to the business of energy, including its supply and demand, energy policies and regulations, sector trends and opportunities and the nexus between energy and society. Students will learn about the environmental impact of energy production and use, challenges with continuity of energy supplies and mitigating strategies and issues concerning energy security, price regulation, local air pollution, carbon pricing and corporate responsibilities of fossil fuel companies.

After completion of this course, students will gain a solid understanding of the energy market and its most salient topics.
