Programme Overview

This module provides an overview of healthcare quality management. Students will gain an understanding of the impact quality has on healthcare organisations and patient outcomes. Topics include patient safety, risk management, quality improvement practices, and regulatory compliance.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate a foundational understanding of healthcare quality management and the impact quality has on patient outcomes. 
2. Discuss the impact healthcare laws, policies and regulations have on healthcare quality. 
3. Understand the connection between quality and patient safety and the importance of promoting a culture of safety as well as being familiar with the methods and tools used to improve patient safety. 
4. Understand organisational leadership’s role in promoting quality and patient safety. 
5. Discuss different quality performance and process improvement strategies to promote change.
